One in 215 kids
has an undetected heart abnormality.
Don’t let your child be the one.
Instead of passively waiting for a teen or young adult to collapse from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), we've created a forward-thinking approach to prevention that reflects the highest standard of care
We’ve partnered with respected health care institutions to provide preventative cardiac screenings, conducted and read by medical professionals, in schools, hospitals, and other mission-driven organizations in 11 states, with more on the way. We’re not supplying a slip of paper that provides clearance for sports physicals. We’re providing critical, HIPAA-compliant, baseline cardiac information that’s stored in a database and shareable with a family physician to help prevent tragedy.
Sudden cardiac arrest is a public health issue that we’ll continue to make an issue about – until the day it isn’t.
SCA is the result of unsuspecting cardiovascular disease causing the heart to stop without warning or symptoms. Though many causes have been found, most cases result from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), the thickening of a heart muscle that obstructs blood outflow. If there’s a family history of heart issues, a child should be screened.
SCA in youth ages 12-22 years is more common than you think. MCORE Foundation screens over 5000 children per year with a findings rate at 5% of those screened. We provide the highest standard of care that results in a preventative baseline cardiac evaluation for use with your medical provider. This is testing that would cost thousands of dollars in a hospital setting but is available to you at little or no cost.
Schools have multiple automated external defibrillators (AEDs), but most cardiac fatalities happen before a defibrillator can be administered. Believing that reactive measures such as an AED is enough to prevent tragedy, creates a false sense of security.
